the final post… of the campaign, you understand. Well, today is the day the politicians are silenced (until 10pm, at least, then let the spinning begin…) and we, the people, have our say. It’s a little bit like when snow falls in Southern England, the usual noises are eliminated from our hearing and we’re left thinking: ‘this is rather special’. And rather special it is that we can exercise our democratic right and participate in electing the politicians who will represent us. Today, we remember those who are denied this opportunity by repressive regimes in other places. Our system may need fixing but let’s savour what we have and elect our governing authorities who are ‘established by God to do us good’. It is an act of worship and discipleship, trusting in God’s sovereignty and taking our responsibility in society seriously. Enjoy.
